The Yorkshire Year of the Textile
The University of Leeds, inspired by the region's rich textile heritage and supported by Arts Council England, have been holding a series of events around the theme of textiles.
Leeds Wool Festival
Saturday 4th June 2016 was another great day at the ever growing and popular Woolfest at Armley Mills, Leeds Industrial Museum. Armley Mills, once the world's largest woollen mill, a sunny day and all things woolly attracted a huge attendance and provided a perfect setting for a very successful event for the team at Armley Mills.
Armley Mill Team Defy the Floods
We were very proud to see Armley Mill at Leeds Industrial Museum officially re-opened today by Councillor Judith Blake, Leader of Leeds City Council. With ward councillors and other important stakeholders attending, it was a great opportunity for the team at Armley Mills to be acknowledged for the hard work and commitment that they have put into preparing Armley Mills for the public again after the devastating floods of Christmas 2015.
YT a Partner at Manufactured Yorkshire 2016
Yorkshire Textiles were pleased to be a partner at the Manufactured Yorkshire 2016 event. A diverse array of manufacturers from across the region filled the Centenary Pavilion at Elland Road in Leeds for the event on 11th May 2016.
Women's Day Fashion Show
Leeds celebrated International Women's Day 2016 in style at the Town Hall with a wide-ranging programme of events and speeches centred around the achievements of women in the district. The day was hosted by Leeds City Council's first woman leader, Judith Blake.
